YAID-Ghana Humanitary Association

WHAT IS A SITE CAMP?

A construction camp is a response to a humanitarian appeal, the desire to
discover a country, a region, a small point on the world map
starting with its inhabitants; by living with them, like them, the
answers come before we ask the right questions.
Doing a building site is getting a lot from volunteers
local and other foreign volunteers in some way a place to give and receive. This is a three-week period during which expatriate and national volunteers stay in urban or rural areas to conduct development activities. The building site is a helping hand, a life of group, an experience of work abroad, an intercultural meeting, a discovery of oneself and the other, a meeting of people of different horizons, a sharing, a discovery ... ......
NB: A construction camp is three experiences at a time:
* Humanitarian action: Volunteers commit to the realization
of an action, they do not receive a salary.
* The realization of the action: The works are accessible to all and
do not require special skills, except motivation
volunteers.
* Community life: A group of 10 to 20 people of different
nationalities manage the execution of the works.
Objectives of a young construction site:
In addition to the accomplishment of a determined work for the benefit of a needy community, a Volunteer / Volunteer project focuses on:
- Awareness of the collective life where all aspects are supported by all (cooking, stewardship, dishes, cleaning, shopping, leisure, etc.)
- Sensitization by meeting with people from different backgrounds and cultures (the building site is a meeting point for cultural exchange) which allows everyone to respect each other by enriching themselves with the differences of their neighbor
- Awareness through the discovery of a new form of work (manual and team work).
In short, participating in a youth project is a formative and rewarding action that leads to:
- Individual and collective empowerment (commitment to achieving a specific goal for the benefit of the target community)
- Learning respect for others, the ability to express oneself, to listen and to live in a group
- Learning about participatory democracy and tolerance through intercultural exchanges
- Solidarity to the physical and moral development of the individual

 WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Anyone who is at least 18 years old, motivated and willing to make a contribution, to bring a plus for the development of our communities.
 WHEN ARE CAMPS CAMPING?
The construction sites take place during the summer holidays (July to September) and winter (December-January)
KNOWLEDGE OF VOLUNTARY AND VOLUNTARY ACTION
 · Volunteers are not paid. They undertake to participate in the realization of a work according to the contract between the association and the lessor (village or association for which the work is done)

· Volunteers are a free labor force for the grassroots community that has solicited the association for the realization of a project.

· The project is part of a local project.
In this dynamic, the population and the volunteers are associated.

7 - A letter of invitation will also be issued to you if necessary for the formalities of application for visa or stock exchange

NB: The entire project is not funded. It should be noted that the work is unpaid, it is a volunteer work. In addition, depending on the capacity of the volunteer, he / she will be able to bring some material help to the project and the association.

THIS IS A CHANGE BETWEEN:

- A person who offers his time, his work and his strength in the service of a project of general interest.
- And a host community that is the beneficiary of the project or humanitarian action.
Trainee volunteers are not employees, they do not receive a salary. Voluntary service is not a way to earn a living in the financial sense of the word, but to enrich oneself in a way while contributing to a collective project. It is an effective means of education and further training but above all it is a life course that we offer to our trainee volunteers.

BEING VOLUNTARY IN THE MEDIUM OR LONG TERM IT IS:

A personal commitment, to know the inside of a culture and to live in a team to assimilate the objectives of a project.
To leave one's familiar environment and to adapt to another way of life with the inhabitants and methods of work and communication as well as different languages. Volunteering in the medium or long term is open to all, regardless of their competence and situation. Only a voluntary approach is necessary.
